Chocolate Peanut has been creating apparel to fit small breeds since 2008. Betty, a small French bulldog, was the first to wear and model apparel from the beginning. Her little white-striped mug adorns the website as she was truly the inspiration for creating a clothing line and developing an online boutique for the smaller breeds of dogs. She wore the “My Favorite Sweater” (above photo) for that cozy comfort she expected and the attitude everyone loved. A new line of sweaters called the “Betty Sweater” will be released by year-end. Our apparel is developed and handmade for our dogs. Lola, a tiny 5-pound chihuahua, and lead sales associate for Chocolate Peanut, demands a wardrobe that not only fits her tiny body, but also satisfies her need for comfort and protection from a variety of fabrics. Bradley, a French bulldog and Lola’s best pal, also enjoys his wardrobe and modeling gigs. Our customers, mostly comprised of small and medium dog breeds, enjoy the comfort and style that each piece provides. Small dogs often need to wear clothes because their compact bodies lose heat much faster than larger breeds, and they carry less fat for insulation, therefore wearing a cozy hoodie or pullover can help them regulate their body temperature in cooler weather. OUR COLLECTION
The first piece of apparel introduced in 2008 were dog scarves in various yarns and cottons. While they’ve always been a staple, new designs are introduced periodically including bulky and medium weight yarns as well as lightweight cottons with fun prints. The “My Favorite Sweater” was also introduced later that year and was our signature product and bestseller for over a decade. In 2021, the tie-dyed hoodie was added and quickly became another bestseller. Hand-dyed and one-of-a-kind, each colorful piece offers an element of surprise and vibrance. The collection continued to expand to include our popular and stylish pullovers offering a versatile, loose drape to fit any breed’s neckline. Hoodies are available in cozy flannels and baseball-style raglan shirts. Pullovers are made from a various assortment of versatile fabrics including a lush French terry, stunning knits, comfy lightweight cottons, several varieties of fleece, and a compression material with UV protection.
