RESCUED: UPCYCLED CLOTHING AND FABRICS ARE WORN AGAIN
Rescued: Upcycled goods—such as stylish apparel for your pet and functional bags for you, and a few fun items for both—are made from used fabrics such as clothing and household linens that have been outgrown, outworn, outdated, or outcast, also having several imperfections, sentimental value, and were loved at one time, much like many shelter animals. Fabrics also includes leftover scraps and remnants. Rescued goods are given a second chance to be “worn again” instead of ending up in a landfill. Every item is a one-of-a-kind. A portion of every sale gives back to area rescues and their ongoing commitment to helping adoptable animals get a second chance at life and many times, a first chance at love.
Pictured above: That’s me behind the camera on location at a multi-rescue adoption event. Karen from Animal Talk works with adoptable dogs during our photoshoots and then posts photos and details for each pup in various media outlets to increase awareness and chances of being adopted, such as Dasha looking adorable in her beads.
Karen with my little Lola, a Vintage Pet Rescue alum. I was so fortunate to adopt this five-pound bundle of joy in 2022. Her story is truly amazing. Karen with Donna Normand, an invaluable member of the Animal Talk team, holding who else? Lola!
Chocolate Peanut is fortunate to partner with Animal Talk’s Karen Kalunian. Her knowledge and resources are integral in an effort to allocate proceeds from sales to area rescues.
I’ve worked with Karen at multi-rescue events volunteering my photography services to capture the unique personalities of adoptable dogs from various rescues in RI. Their photos and details are posted on social media, various print, and online publications in an effort to raise awareness and increase their chances for adoption. Animal Talk coordinates multi-rescue events throughout the year thanks to Dogtopia of Warwick, RI—a daycare and spa for dogs—for providing the space for our photoshoots AND for hosting adoption events. Karen has a gift of handling dogs from the fearless to the fearful. Her passion is coordinating with rescues to help animals find their forever home—a tireless labor of love.
Learn more about Karen and stream episodes of Animal Talk as she shares stories of local residents, rescues, and organizations working to care for our furry and feathered friends at https://www.ripbs.org/animal-talk.
